Direct-To-Film (DTF) printing is a method wherein a custom image is meticulously printed onto a high-quality film before being transferred onto your chosen apparel. This cutting-edge printing technology allows us to process any volume of orders and reproduce radiant, full-color designs at a cost-effective rate. With DTF printing, we promise superb quality, unmatched consistency, and affordable prices for every order.
The quality and unique result of the DTF printing process we provide for our clients is what makes them come back time and time again.
The DTF Process Broken down in 6 Easy Step
First, we prepare your custom design digitally. It's crucial to ensure the image is high resolution for optimal printing quality. We can accept any design, no matter how intricate or colorful.
Using specialized DTF printers, we print your digital design onto a transfer film. These machines make use of high-end CMYK ink, including white ink, which ensures the reproduction of vibrant, full-color images.
The printed film is then coated with a heat-activated adhesive powder. This powder will allow the design to adhere securely to the fabric in later steps.
The transfer film is then passed through a heating unit, usually a conveyor oven, to dry and cure the adhesive. This step is crucial to ensure proper adhesion to the apparel.
The film, now adorned with your design and adhesive, is laid onto your chosen apparel. An industrial heat press is used to apply pressure and heat, allowing the design to transfer onto the fabric.
Finally, the printed apparel is passed through a conveyor dryer for its final cure. This ensures the image is durable, washable, and long-lasting.
Vector file formats like .ai, .svg, and .dxf are the preferred choice for DTF printing projects due to their scalability without loss of quality. Unlike raster images, which can become pixelated when resized, vector files maintain their integrity, ensuring sharp and clean print results. Additionally, these formats allow for easy manipulation of individual elements, making color separations and adjustments more straightforward for the DTF printing process.
